We visited the Tread Lightly caravan today.  Before the visit, we read Dr.Seuss' The Lorax and discussed how to reduce human over-consumption of our natural resources.

Tread Lightly teaches us why and how to reduce our carbon footprint on the Earth.

We are learning that different electrical appliances consume different  amount of  energy.  We need to  use the most  energy efficient equipment.

Mr Judd from Tread Lightly is helping us to find out how many earths we would need  if  we continue to live  as  we are living today.  Even the most eco-friendly family would need 2.8 earths.  That's shocking!

We are pondering what actions we should take at school and at our home.

We will use at least one idea from today's lesson to make the earth last longer!

The Tread Lightly caravan is coming to Marist!

This week the Tread Lightly caravan is coming to Marist  and we are going to find out how many Planet Earths we will need to survive if we continue to exploit the environment as we are doing today. We can choose what we will do as an individual and as a whole school community to make our planet more sustainable.

Here is a notice sent to parents and get them involved.

Room 4 is initiating a Litterless Lunch campaign. Children who have a Litterless Lunch will be our Eco-Heroes!

Room 4 made posters to inform people why it  is important to have a Litterless lunch - we need to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle to save the environment!

A notice was sent home to remind children of the Litterless lunch day.

So many heroes!
